Fabrication and characterization of screen printed NiMn<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub> spinel based thermistors

Purpose The purpose of this work was to characterize NiMn 2 O 4 spinel-based thermistor powder, use it in screen printing technology fabricate temperature sensors, study their performance for different sintering temperatures layer, with and without insulative cover, as well investigate stability the fabricated thermistors applicability water quality monitoring. Design/methodology/approach After characterization starting converted thick film paste which printed on alumina substrate. Thermistor layers were sintered at four temperatures: 980°C, 1050°C, 1150°C 1290°C. An interdigitated pattern Ag-Pd conductive layer used reduce resistance. Temperature-resistance characteristics investigated air water, cover atop layer. Stability after aging 120°C 300 h also examined. Findings Thick spinel thermistors, prepared by range 980°C–1290°C, exhibited good negative coefficient (NTC) −30°C 145°C, including high resistance, water. Originality/value This explores that can be applied films compromising sensing elevated temperatures.
